Bottle Cap Turkey Necklace

November 16, 2015 By: Freetimefrolics

Thanksgiving is coming up quick.  So a few weeks ago I teamed up with The Ribbon Retreat to make these quick and easy Bottle Cap Turkey Brooches and necklaces.  My little Miss is so excited to give a couple away to her friends at school.  I mean what little girls doesn’t love jewelry and trinkets?

The first turkey I made reminds me of a story my Granny use to tell me when I was a kid.  The one where the turkey was sad because it didn’t feel special.  So he went on a journey to find a color he wants to be. He encountered a lot of animals. He dyed himself every color of the rainbow.  Until he realized he is perfect just the way he was.  A beautiful rainbow feathered turkey.

Making these could not be easier. You will need a few supplies: silk tye dyed gerber daisy, Burlap bottle cap, googly eyes, felt, brooch pin. (With each daisy you can make 3 of these turkeys)

Take your bottle cap, googly eyes and a scrap of felt.  Glue the eyes and felt beak to the inside of the bottle cap.

Hand sew the pin to one side of the felt circle.

Take one flower layer and fold in half.  Take one of the smaller layers and place it on the front.

Glue the bottle cap to the center of the flower.

Flip to the back side and glue the pin to the flower.

Let dry and wear.

For the Ribbon Turkey:

Start with a Burlap bottle cap, Googly eyes, 5 different colored ribbons 1/4 inch wide, necklace bale, felt circles and some gorilla glue.

My ribbon colors I used are: Creamsicle, Jade Blue, Evergreen, Pumpkin Pie, Autumn Pink

Using the glue, place eyes a beak and gobbler on the inside of the bottle cap.

With ribbons cut at about 2 inches. Place all 5 on the back in a fan like pattern with glue.

Cut your felt into a half circle and glue to the bottom half of the bottle cap. Glue the bale in the top center.

Cut your ribbon on an angle around the cap.  Use a match to melt the edges of your ribbon.Bottle Cap Turkey Necklace Tutorial #turkey #thanksgiving #jewelry
