4th of July Graphic Tees with my Silhouette

June 29, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

I saw the Silhoutte on a blog last summer.  I just had to have one.  It has sat for a while in a closet.  Pregnancy, Baby, Kids.  They suck up my time.  But I finally started to use it and I love it!!!!! I have had this project on my mind for a while and finally got it done.  I had a deadline but I got done early so I am here to share! 4th of July shirts.  My older boys picked the same one. So I only Photographed one of them. Here they are:

For the big boys

The Little Miss
And last but not least the Little Man

I can’t wait for the to wear them!  They are equally excited.
I used a template from the Silhoutte America store and the font is Oh Shoot!
If you love to craft this is definitely for you.  It cuts heat transfer, fabric, paper, magnet paper, and tattoo

paper and so much more.  I learn something new every time I use it! If you are interested watch crafty blogs for Promos.  They do them alot.

Check back for my other Silhoutte projects.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup-cakes

June 16, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

Okay so I have never really been a chocolate girl. Not until my 3rd pregnancy.  I think it was the girl factor but I could not get enough chocolate.  I love to indulge in the stuff now.  I have this amazing neighbor who is a great baker.  She made a similar item one day and these babies are to die for! She lost the recipe so I have been trying to recreate it.  I finally did it.  Be prepared to enjoy!!!

Chocolate Peanut Butter CUP-cakes
1 box devil’s food cake mix (I always use Duncan Hines, I think it’s the best)
1 small box instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup sour cream ( You could also use half natural plain yogurt)
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 natural apple sauce (If you don’t have sauce you can add another 1/2 c oil but applesauce makes me think they are a little healthier. It also makes them a little more dense)
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (12 oz.) package of mini chocolate chips (2 cups)
1/2 cup peanut butter or 1 cup PB chips
Preheat oven to 350. Mix together everything except chocolate chips on medium speed, scraping occasionally. Stir in chips. Pour batter into preferred pan(s). Obviously, if you want cupcakes, use lined muffin tins, or grease and flour it. I used a large cookie scoop to fill the tins (about 3 tablespoons). For baking time, add 10 minutes to the time specified on box and check. Do the toothpick test to check, you’ll want a few moist crumbs. The middle won’t jiggle anymore and the tops will spring back when touched lightly. If not done, check about every five minutes until done. Cool completely and frost with Peanut butter Cream Cheese Frosting.
This recipe make several dozen cupcakes.  Mine made 2 dozen large and 2 1/2 pans of mini cupcakes.
Peanut butter Cream cheese Frosting
8 oz cream cheese
1 cup Creamy Peanut Butter (add a little more to taste)
1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
With a whisk attachment, beat butter and peanut butter at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Add powdered sugar and beat until mostly moistened. Scrape bowl and beat at medium-low until fully combined. Add vanilla and beat at medium until fully incorporated. Increase speed to medium high and beat until light and fluffy, scraping bowl occasionally.

These are so yummy! I really like them refrigerated. The pudding keeps them soft and moist.  I could just sit and eat the frosting by itself!  I hope you like them as much as I do!

Easy Peasy Father’s Day Gift

June 16, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

Fathers Day Dynamite
So Father’s Day is coming quick and have trying to think of something quick and easy for the kids to make. My kiddos are pretty fortunate kids.  They have both sets of grandparents living and 3 full sets of great grandparents living.  So need less to say we are pretty busy around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.  Lots of card making and treats to go around. So we need something Quick, Easy and Cheap when you are getting things for multiple Dads.  (I am big on recognizing all the Dad’s, Grandpa’s, Papa’s etc…)
This is what I came up with!
father1
Supply List
3 rolled candies (Rolos, Mentos, Large Gi-normous Smarties) You get the picture.
1 sheet red paper
Tape or Glue
1/2 yard twine, yarn or ribbon
Small tag
Dynamite supplies
Cut you red paper the same length as you candy. Leaving a 1/2 inch on end of paper for folding over.
 fathers2
Tape the paper to the candy along one edge and roll.  Tape rolled edge closed.
Cut twine or yarn. 3 strips of 2 inches. Glue 2 sticks together. Place twine in center and glue 3rd stick on top.
Wrap remaining twine around dynamite adding your tag.
Your tag can read My Dad is Dynamite!
Or Grandpa.
Something cute from the kids and yummy for Dad!

Firecrackers!

June 7, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

I am not really huge on decorating my house for holidays.  Between 4 kids, keeping house and my love of sewing, decorating for the holidays is pretty low on my list.  I have decide to have a sofa table in my entry that I can decorate for the holidays and call it good.  Then I can have a few decorations for holidays to feel festive and not to much to store the rest of the year.
I have had this idea in my head for a while and finally saw what I need to make it happen at Michaels. Wahoo!!!
So here is version #1
Ribbon Style
Let’s start with a supply list:
Paper pencil cups
(These come in a package of 6 by Creatology at Michaels)
2 inch ribbon (1 yard will make at least 3 firecrackers)
1/2 inch ribbon (1 yard)
3/4 inch or 1 inch ribbon (1/2 yard)
Wilton cupcake picks ( I got mine at Michaels in the patriotic holiday section)
A crafty girl’s best friend = Glue Gun
Optional blue or red spray paint

Start by punching a hole in the center of your pencil cup.
I am a little old school.  I still have my Making Memories punch kit. Similar to this one.  I still use the eyelet setter and hammer to make my holes.  It works great.  If you don’t have a similar item I was thinking you could use a toothpick or bbq skewer to punch your hole.
Here is the step I missed.  If you would like to paint your cups, paint them now. Just give them a light coat around and a second coat on the top.
Find the center of the cup and place a small line of glue starting at the center and going 2 inches to the edge.

Start with a small line of glue in the center and move to the edges of the container.  Lay edge of ribbon on glue and wrap around container.  Place small line of glue on top or first edge and glue down. Repeat for second piece of ribbon.

Repeat last step for blue ribbons around edges.
This is what it will look like.

Add your cupcake picks and stick them into the holes you punched in the beginning.

Wrap your last ribbon around your firecracker ans VOILA your done.  Super easy your kiddos could do it!!
I added my 4th of July free Printable and I have the beginning of my holiday decoration!
Version #2
Glitter style
Supplies:
Pencil cups
Red or Blue glitter
Spray Glue
Wilton cupcake picks
1-Punch Hole in cup
2- Spray glue on cup
3- Sprinkle glitter on cup.  All over.

4- Let dry
5- Add Pick
6- Wrap with ribbon

All finished.  I can’t decide which on I like more. I love fireworks.  Our first summer in Idaho Falls were eventful. But one memory I have is the Fireworks.  Melaluca, a local company put on an amazing fireworks show.  You can see them from miles around and they shoot them off from the a spot around the falls of the Snake River.  It is awesome. I can’t wait to see the show this year!

I hope you all have a safe and fantastic holiday!!

Pull over Baby Bib

June 5, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

Finding a unique gift for a new mom can sometimes be hard.  I found one of these bibs and fell in love with it.  I needed more but they were had to find. Little ones can really make a mess.  It seems like bibs only make it through one kiddo. I discovered fingertip towels are the perfect size.  So now with each new little bundle I make a few new ones. Just so they get something new.   You can never have to many bibs right??

Family Rules

May 30, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

I saw something similar someone had made and loved the idea.  Subway Art and Chevron prints are all the rage so I used both for my family rules.  Lots of fun colors to choose from. They are sized 11x 14. Right click and save to your computer. Enjoy!

Yummy Banana Cake

May 22, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

I have this adorable cousin who lives across the country.  I love to look at her food blog.  She has awesome recipes.  This is one of our favorites.  Sometimes I just get tired of plain old banana bread. This is just enough of a change to liven things up with out changing too much! Enjoy

Tiered Plates

May 22, 2011 By: Freetimefrolics

I found a serving tray at Target I loved.  But the price was a little more than I wanted to spend.  I searched the internet and found just what I needed to make my own.  I though they would make great gifts for Weddings, Teachers, Girlfriends, Birthdays or even Christmas. Here is what I came up with…
What you need
Melamine plates (I got mine at Target)
Cake Stand Handles (HERE )
This company is going to be expanding.  They have told me they will be getting more styles soon!
Painters Tape
Drill and Drill bit (Mine was 5/16ths)

Tape your plates in a plus sign  on the right sides of the plate.  Find center and mark it with a marker. Make sure you are taping and drilling from the right side of the plate.  Drilling from the wrong side can cause the plate to crack and break.  I learned from experience. Cracking can occur at anytime. But I have found the tape really helps alot!

Place your plates right side up and on something you can drill into.  I just used and old board in my garage.  Do not do it on your nice kitchen table or floor (I did that once.Right into my linoleum.  Live and learn!)
Drill slowly into the plate.  Once through reverse the drill and pull out. You should be left with pretty little holes like these above.

Take your handles and thread the screws through the holes.  Voila, a beautiful new serving plate. I am excited to try the 3 tiered plate too.  The great thing about these handles is you only need one set and you can change them out for holidays or seasons.

Perfect for serving 2 Princess there lunch!
