Easy Layered Frames under $5

May 8, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

I love myself some fancy frames.  Finding them can be hard sometimes, especially in the right colors. I found these laser cut frames at Michael’s and fell in love.  They are kind of hot right now.  I just had to do something with them.  Sitting next to them on the shelf were these I found 2 different sizes that would work together.  A 4×6 and a 3×3 size. Here is what you need.

First I painted the plain frames a color. You can used wall paint or craft paint to paint these.  I used my sample cans from Lowes. They have the most amazing colors.
 Next I spray painted the fancy laser cut frames.  I just sprayed mine white. With these frames I had to spray mine a few coats.
Next I glued them together.  Hot glue did not work so I used E-6000. My favorite glue.  It will make anything stick. With E-6000 you will have to let it dry for at least a few hours.  The package recommends 24 hours.
So here are my finished Frames. They look great on a Fridge or cabinet.

Mother’s Day gift from Sears

May 6, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

“I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias®  and Sears #cbias #SocialFabric #ThisisStyle”
All opinions are my own.
This year for Mother’s Day I wanted to express to my grandmother how much she means to me.  In the past few years she has been ailed with health problems.  She has been in the hospital way to much.  I will always remember the many things she has done for me.  She has cared for me through many trails in my life. Growing up I was the only girl for many years.  I am the oldest of 5, having 4 brothers. I was the only granddaughter.  As a child I frequently spent weekends at her home with the intent of spending time with her. We often found ourselves shopping on Saturday at the local mall and getting spoiled.  I have fond memories of my grandmother and time I have spent with her.  I truly appreciate everything she has done for me.  From the time I was a little girl she has always shown me how to love, to try, and to appreciate all the good things.

Don’t you just dig the gold couch!

To share my appreciation with her .  I was not sure what I could get her.  As I looked through the Sears gift guide to find her a gift. They had lots of great ideas from apparel to tools.  Even pink tools! What girl wouldn’t love a set of pink tools! Well since Granny is past the age of building things or re-purposing things I decided to go the safe route.

 Now my Granny is a stylish lady.  She is always well dressed and with the trends. So I had to pick the perfect gift.  With all of her health problems and hospital visits.  I though a nice pair of pajamas would be nice.  Something with a little flair.  Sears had just the right thing.

I think this is my favorite picture of here.  Gun holsters and all. This is style!

I found these adorable pajamas.  The top is a beautiful Turquoise with matching zebra print pajamas.  I think she is going to love them.  As she has aged with beauty she has a little wild hair.  She loves a having some wild colors and prints.

While shopping for my grandma I found this beautiful watch bracelet for my Mother in law.  She loves turquoise.  So I though this would be perfect for her.  I love that the watch adjusted for any size wrist.

My last stop was in the tool department.  Remember those pink tools I talked about.  I just had to see them for myself. The gentleman helping me was very knowledgeable.  He even said the pink tools were top quality, maybe even better than the man tools!  He was super helpful. I think I need another shopping trip for myself back to the tool aisle!
While shopping I used my Shop your way Rewards to save even more money and and earn rewards.   All you need to set up an account with your email or phone number and your are ready to save! It’s Easy! Just head over to www.Shopyourway.com. When you head back over to see your points Sears will also share some great ideas for products you may love. You can even share ideas with friends or family.

Since I live several hours away from my family.  I had to have them wrapped and ready to ship to them.  Nothing really fancy.  Just a little wrapping and a post office box.  I just want her to know I am thinking of her this Mother’s Day and everyday I am thankful for what she has done for me! Thanks Sears for Wrapping this gift up with a pretty bow!

BBQ Cowboy Casserole {Recipe}

May 1, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

BBQ cowboy casserole recipe www.freetimefrolics.com
So way back when I had my baby, we had neighbors bringing us dinner for a few days.  We received all kinds of yummy food. One neighbor, who is an amazing cook, brought us what looked like a Shepard’s pie.  But this little beauty had a little twist.   It was Bar-b-que sauce instead of tomato soup.  It was to die for delicious.  It is amazing what just one change can do to a recipe.  So I hit her up for the recipe and I am sharing it with you.  This is a version of a Martha Stewart recipe I was unable to find on the internet.  I have altered it a bit. I give you BBQ Cowboy Casserole or twisted Sheperd’s Pie.  Whatever its called it’s delicious.

At Home Spa Hands Treatment

April 29, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

I love myself some soft hands.  So when I did a  Sally Hansen nail party (Here) I just had to share my quick and easy, at home spa hands treatment.   It’s a little trick I learned while flying around the world as a flight attendant.   The air is so dry and as a flight attendant you are washing your hands all the time. It makes for dry, cracked and sometimes painful hands!  When your on an airplane you have very limited supplies. You of course have what’s in your bag. Plus snacks and beverages.  I am not sure who came up with this Mini spa hands treatment but I am sure glad they did.

Here is what you need:
Sugar
lemon juice
club soda
your favorite lotion.
Start with 1 teaspoon of sugar in your hands. Add the juice of 1/4 of a  lemon.(Be careful if you have cuts on your hands. The lemon juice will burn)  Rub your hands together well.   Using the sugar to scrub your hands. Both sides. Scrub for about 1 minute.
Rinse off your hands with 1 Cup of Club Soda.  It makes you hands bubble!
Rinse the remaining sugar off with warms water.
Dry your hands.
Add your favorite lotion and voile your hands are silky soft.  We used  Sally Hansen hand creme with Shea butter lotion.  It was delightful.
You can also use this on your feet for a pedicure treatment.  It feels wonderful.

Time Out for Women {Idaho Falls}

April 24, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

I love myself a great Girls Weekend.  Usually its filled with great food, girl talk and no kids.  This weekend was a little like this but so much more.  For those of you who don’t know I am a Mormon.  I blog like all the rest of my crazy, crafty, blogger friends. And I am Mormon.  I love my faith and practices its teachings.  One of the great things about where I live and is there is a large populations of LDS members here.  Because of the large population we have opportunities to attend church related  engagements.  One such engagement is Time Out For Women (TOFW). Time Out for Women is a weekend gathering of women to listen and be uplifted through speakers, music and service.
So I teamed up with these amazing friends and attended TOFW. It was an awesome experience.

Here is what I needed to hear!!

1. Live as if you matter, because you do!  Hillary Weeks
2. We are all in the same boat.  No matter your situation all of us have holes in our boat and are working hard to plug those holes. No one is without trials. If we can all work together we can help each other through those trials. Happiness is knowing we are all in the same boat. John Hilton III
 Happiness is in Yellow
Happiness in Blue
3. The Mundane can be Miraculous! Find joy in everyday things.  You never know when those everyday things can make miracles happen!

4. All you have to do is start! Action = Motivation.
5.Creativity serves the Lord.

Being able to attend is an amazing opportunity.  I am grateful I am able to attend.  I had my cup filled to overflowing.  I was needing a recharge.  Being a mom can be tasking on a person.  Doing the mundane all the time.  I know that by doing these mundane things; being a mom, chef, nurse and driver, I will one day see the Miracles.  But sometimes I need a little recharge.  TOFW does that for me.  I appreciate the preparation that goes into making TOFW happen.  If you ever have the opportunity to attend, GO!  If not please check out there website and you tube to hear some of these amazing people speak and uplift.  Sign up for the newsletter and receive weekly emails of what is going on at TOFW and read stories of other LDS Bloggers.  Today you can read about me and how I, Create and Inspire to live Higher! Check out my Post on the TOFW Blog Today!

Homemade Croutons {Recipe}

April 22, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

Homemade garlic croutons www.freetimefrolics.com
Salad Season is on its way. I can feel it!  Fresh fruits and vegetables are just waiting to spring up in home gardens every where.  And who doesn’t love yummy croutons to top off their salad.  I love to make Chef and Cesar salads in the summer for my family with fresh homemade croutons. A few years back I was in a class with a chef who shared his homemade croutons. They are simple and easy.  They have no preservatives (which isn’t a problem cuz they probably won’t even make it to a ziploc for later.) These yummy little croutons could even become your evening snack like popcorn only better.

Girl inspirational wall and free printables www.freetimefrolics.com
I have been working on a little something for my daughter. Growing up is tough.  I want her to have strong role models that lift her up and make her feel good about herself, to always look for the good, have courage, know that beauty is not everything and when hard times come, to know that she can do it.
  I love collage walls. So I decided to combine my collage wall with a few inspirational quotes. The collage wall will serve as daily reminder of what she is capable of.

10 tips for Perfect Wheat Bread

April 17, 2013 By: Freetimefrolics

For the past 7 years I have been making homemade Wheat bread. I have taken classes on grains and bread making.  I have tried several recipes over the years.  I decided that any  recipe can be great if you just have the right tips. So over the years I have found what works best for me. So today I am sharing my tips for amazing wheat bread. For my wheat bread recipe click {Here}

1. Heat your water to the right temperature.  105* is the perfect temp.

2. Use Vital Wheat Gluten.  A small amount added to yeast bread recipes improves the texture and elasticity of the dough.

3. Try sponging.  In my recipe I add gluten, part of the flour, water and yeast.  Mix it together and let it sit for 10 or so minutes.  This allows the yeast to activate.  Your mixture will rise and make bubbles. I like let this sit and sponge while I change a load of laundry or load the dishes.

4. Grab the lemon juice! Use 2 Tablespoons of lemon juice instead of dough enhancer. Lemon juice will make you bread light and airy.  Just like store bought bread without all the additives.

5. Begin kneading your dough when it stops sticking to the sides of the bowl.

6. Use non stick cooking spray on your counter top when rolling out your dough. If you use flour on your counter tops you start pulling moisture out of the bread. Making your dough dry and crumbly when baked.

7. Spray your pans with non stick cooking spray.

8.  Divide the dough and roll them out. When rolling out your dough, be sure to push the air bubbles out. Sometimes I like to use a rolling pin to push out the bubbles.  Then roll your dough and fit into your pans.  My recipe makes 4 loaves of bread.

9. Spray the tops of your bread dough with non stick cooking spray and a spritz of water.

10. When you pull your bread out of the oven, get them our of pans as soon as possible.  Spray the bread loaves with a spray bottle of water. Spray each of them a few times. This allows the heat to come out and the moisture to stay in.    This will produce a lot of steam.

Allow your bread to cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting.
