Each year for Young Women’s we have a night of celebration, sharing their accomplishment through the year. This year for our night of Excellence we decided to go outside and low key. We used the theme “Seek the Light”. We filled the night with the Light of Christ.

Orion Constellation Costume
A while back my son had to do a project in school about outer space. He had to dress up or create a project about space. Now my boys have always loved learning about space and space travel so this project was right up our alley. Instead of doing a project, we decided to do a costume. I came up with this super easy Orion constellation costume.

Are you Happy?
Happiness with ourselves is equivalent to our Self Worth. A few weeks ago I felt impressed to talk to my girls about being Happy. So many times in our life we judge others, we talk about others, and say things about others all because we feel unhappy about ourselves, jealousy or guilt. We do these things because we are not truly happy with ourselves. We only see our glass half empty and want to feel better about ourselves. In the end, the opposite is true. We feel worse about ourselves and the cycle continues.

Growing up my mom would make porcelain dolls for a little extra income. We would make them from start to finish. I would clean greenware, wire bodies and dress the dolls. When I was about 6 years old I would sneak onto my moms sewing machine and practice sewing lines on fabric. I would sit and turn the knobs of her machine. Once she realized I was adjusting the the tension she decided to teach me how to sew. I would make small pillows, pillowcases and drawstring bags. Playing around on the sewing machine became a fun hobby for me.

Simple No-Slip Rug Cover
For today’s project I decided to get rid of my ugly rug and turn it into something amazing. I didn’t want to have to buy a new rug so I made a simple slip cover to make it match my style. I tried this once before with my large rug. The great think about this one is it is fast and easy to make with a small rug. It has an open bottom for easy removal and washing. I started by finding these amazing fabrics at Riley Blake Designs.
